Consultant Psychiatrist for Learning Disabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in providing specialist community psychiatric care to individuals with intellectual disabilities in Pembrokeshire. As a key member of our Community Team for Learning Disabilities, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care and support to our patients, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist community psychiatric care to individuals with intellectual disabilities, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and policies for the care of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality care and patient safety.
- Supervise and support junior medical staff and provide teaching and training to medical students and junior doctors.
- Eligibility to hold an Honorary Academic title at a partner university.
- Experience in psychiatry, with a focus on intellectual disability psychiatry.
- Strong clinical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Willingness to participate in teaching and training activities.
