Category Development Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Category Development Manager to lead the strategic management of our Hot Beverage category. This role will involve developing and implementing category strategies to drive sustainable business volume growth opportunities, optimize quality and gross margin delivery, and maximize commercial value through strategic sourcing. The successful candidate will be responsible for owning the overall relationship matrix and hierarchy, conducting periodic business reviews with suppliers, and providing effective leadership and development to a category buyer.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies to drive sustainable business volume growth opportunities, optimize quality and gross margin delivery, and maximize commercial value through strategic sourcing.
- Own the overall relationship matrix and hierarchy, conducting periodic business reviews with suppliers to maximize business relationships.
- Provide effective leadership and development to a category buyer.
- Accountable for process stewardship to capture and influence business requirements across the Hot Beverage spend for the UK&I, helping to win and retain clients and consumers within Compass and the External Business.
- Deliver customer and market focus through close supplier relationships, competitor understanding, and the exploitation of market-driven data to create market leadership for the business.

- Experience of coaching, developing, and leading procurement professionals.
- Knowledge in running large categories.
- Expert with analytical tools, able to draw conclusions and communicate recommendations from complex data via a holistic approach.
- Strong decision maker with good commercial acumen who is comfortable working under pressure.
