Job Overview

The Buying Director position at Chesterfield County, VA, offers a dynamic opportunity to lead the procurement team in managing complex projects and overseeing strategic sourcing initiatives. About the Role

This is a full-time position with an estimated salary range of $110,000 - $140,000 per annum, depending on experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and overseeing work prepared by staff, providing direction and guidance on procurement, strategic sourcing, and contract issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage competitive procurement processes in compliance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act, County Code, and county policies and procedures.
  • Conduct innovative, complex procurements, such as construction projects and service agreements.
  • Review and analyze requisitions, determining the appropriate method of procurement.
  • Coordinate and develop scope of work, specifications, evaluation methods, and criteria for IFBs and RFPs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Five years of professional experience in public sector procurement and contract administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Certifications: Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), or Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO).
  • Leadership skills and supervision experience preferred.
