About the Role

We are seeking experienced Senior Social Workers to join our Duty and Assessment Teams and Safeguarding and Support Teams at Tameside Council.

As a Senior Social Work Practitioner, you will play a key role in ensuring timely assessment and intervention for children and families, achieving this through professional and reflective supervision, supporting staff learning and development, and ensuring the production of high-quality work to improve outcomes.

You will contribute to the leadership of the team and service, providing mentoring, coaching, and support to less experienced team members, and taking responsibility for the support of ASYE and student social workers.

About the Teams

Our Duty and Assessment Teams and Safeguarding and Support Teams work together to provide a comprehensive service to children and families in Tameside.

As a Senior Social Work Practitioner, you will be part of a team that is committed to delivering high-quality services and making a positive difference to the lives of children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the leadership of the team and service, providing mentoring, coaching, and support to less experienced team members
  • Take responsibility for the support of ASYE and student social workers
  • Ensure timely assessment and intervention for children and families
  • Provide professional and reflective supervision to social workers
  • Support staff learning and development
  • Ensure the production of high-quality work to improve outcomes
Requirements

We are looking for candidates with substantive previous experience of working with children and their families in a statutory social care environment.

You will need to have good knowledge of legislation and professional practice, and be able to work with children and families alongside management responsibilities, such as chairing meetings and supervising and supporting social workers.
