Job Summary

Tameside Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Work Practitioner to join our Cared for Children service. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in improving service delivery to our cared for children, providing mentoring and coaching to social workers, and contributing to timely care and permanence planning.

About the Role

This is a leadership role that requires a high level of skills and knowledge, with a passion for achieving good outcomes for children. You will be part of a team led by a Team Manager and will hold a small caseload of complex cases. Your excellent leadership skills and commitment to contributing towards our vision of meeting the holistic needs of our cared for children will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mentoring and coaching to social workers to improve service delivery
  • Contribute to timely care and permanence planning for children
  • Hold a small caseload of complex cases
  • Support the Team Manager in improving service delivery
  • Deputise for the Team Manager in chairing meetings and providing management oversight

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Relevant professional qualification for the job role at Level 6 or above
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in the role
  • Maintained membership of a regulated body where this is a requirement to practice in the role where applicable
  • Professional standards practiced to the highest expected level
