About the Role

The Principal Software Engineer will lead a small team of engineers in the development, integration, introduction, sustaining, and support of control system software and processes in the UK market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capture and manage product and tool development requirements
  • Support the Network Rail product acceptance process
  • Provide product support, including project delivery and end-customer support
  • Manage concurrent work packages for product development, validation, and obsolescence management
  • Develop and manage staff within the team
  • Support control system delivery projects
  • Lead obsolescence management of control system software products
  • Manage resources within the control system software products team
Requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of software development processes for safety-related systems
  • Background in software development with experience in Windows applications and hardware interfaces
  • Knowledge of software development processes, Windows Operating Systems, and Windows API level programming
  • Understanding of UDP/IP, TCP/IP, and serial communication programming
  • Experience with WPF, PRISM, Entity Framework, and SQL Server
  • SQL Server DBA ability to introduce new tools and processes
  • Experience in a commercial railway systems environment
