About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead our software development team in the UK market. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, integration, introduction, sustaining, and support of control system software and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the software development team.
  • Manage the product development lifecycle, including requirements capture, product introduction, and product support.
  • Coordinate concurrent work packages for product development, validation, and obsolescence management.
  • Manage and develop staff within the team, including regular staff reviews and appraisals.
  • Manage associated lab facilities to enable system and subsystem validation and integration testing for new and existing products.
Requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of software development processes for safety-related systems.
  • Knowledge of hardware development processes for safety-related systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Background in software development with specific experience of development of Windows applications using a variety of hardware interfaces.
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge of software development processes.
  • Complete understanding of Windows Operating Systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows API level programming, including C, C++, and C#.
  • Understanding of UDP/IP, TCP/IP, and serial communication programming.
  • Experience of Motorola 68000 Assembler and Intel Assembler.
  • Understanding of code versioning tools.
  • Degree in an engineering subject.
Desirable Skills
  • Detailed knowledge of signalling interlocking systems.
  • Experience in using WPF, PRISM, Entity Framework, and SQL Server.
  • SQL Server DBA ability.
  • Ability to introduce new tools and processes.
  • Experience in a commercial railway systems environment.
