About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Purchase Ledger Supervisor to join our team at Cammell Laird. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for supervising, training, and supporting our Purchase Ledger team in driving efficiency and excellence in our financial controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management: Oversee and train the Purchase Ledger team to foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Financial Operations: Process supplier invoices, expenses, proformas, supplier payments, and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Query Resolution: Resolve complex queries efficiently and effectively to maintain strong supplier and internal relationships.
  • Currency Management: Reconcile Company Credit and Pre-Paid Cards, process FOREX payments, and ensure all currency variances are accounted for and cleared from the ledgers.
  • Aged Invoices: Chase aged invoices internally to ensure timely payment to suppliers.
  • Payment Processing: Make payments for Wages/PAYE/Manual Pensions/Prepaid Cards and other payments as required.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Oversee the reconciliation of bank statements and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process Improvement: Enhance efficiency and accuracy in P2P activities and develop standard operating procedures.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on activities and performance to the Purchase Ledger Manager.
  • Month-End and Year-End Closing: Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, providing necessary documentation and analysis.
Requirements
  • Leadership and Experience: A strong leader with experience as a Purchase Ledger/Accounts Payable specialist in a fast-paced business.
  • Qualifications: AAT level 4 or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Skills and Abilities: Organized and resilient under pressure, with confidence working with high volumes of data while maintaining a high standard of accuracy. Proficient in using tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Process Improvement: Drive and experience with Purchase ledger/Accounts Payable that enables you to identify, challenge, and recommend process improvements.
