Strategic Software Engagement Manager

As part of our journey to net-zero, we are seeking an experienced Strategic Software Engagement Manager to join our Supplier Relationship Management team.
Job OverviewThis exciting new role will be responsible for managing and developing productive relationships with our major Software and SaaS suppliers. Reporting to the Lead Supplier Relationship Manager, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that these suppliers deliver high-quality services, meet performance expectations, and provide valuable insights for continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities- Relationship Management: Develop and implement effective strategies to engage and build strong relationships with IT, Procurement, Business Units, and key software suppliers.
- Advisory: Provide commercial and contractual advice to Senior Directors and leadership teams within the SSE Group.
- Governance: Manage a portfolio of suppliers worth £50-100m per annum, ensuring they meet the company's procurement and commercial objectives.
- Team Leadership: Supervise a team of Contract Managers and provide commercial/contractual support to the wider Procurement & Commercial team.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A deep understanding of the software and SaaS market, including experience in drafting, interpreting, and negotiating complex IT and telco contracts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of building trusted partner relationships with senior management and directors.
- Proven experience in leading complex technology commercial negotiations and operating with a strategic, long-term mindset.
What We Offer: A competitive salary of £60,000 - £85,000 (including performance-related bonus), plus a range of benefits, including 34 days annual leave, enhanced maternity/paternity leave, discounted healthcare, and more.
