Colorectal Cancer Support Specialist

Job Overview
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and motivated Clinical Support Worker to join their team on Ward 12.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist qualified nursing staff in providing direct patient care, including admitting patients to the ward and completing demographic details.
- Provide care to patients following instructions in the care plan, programme or pathway.
- Accurately record routine clinical observations and report any abnormal recordings or signs of change in a patient's condition to a registered nurse.
- Assess patients' levels of dependence in meeting personal care needs and provide appropriate assistance.
- Accompany patients during meals and provide support with eating and drinking.
- Record information on patient food charts and fluid balance charts, reporting concerns to a registered nurse.
- Perform clinical skills relevant to the ward/department and patient group, such as phlebotomy, ECG recording, and simple dressings.
- Assist the clinical team with data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate documentation of care.
- Escort, transfer, and discharge patients, ensuring all property is packed and the bed area is prepared for the next patient.
- Maintain a clean and tidy environment in treatment rooms and ward areas.
- Participate in clinical supervision and contribute to the resolution of conflicts by responding to concerns and complaints in a positive manner.

Essential Criteria
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems.
- Time-keeping, planning, and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to complete the care certificate within the six-month probationary period.
