We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Mental Health Advocate to join our team at Hestia.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals struggling with mental health issues. As a Mental Health Advocate, you will play a vital role in providing support, guidance, and empowerment to our service users.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong understanding of mental health recovery tools, wellbeing support, and services available in the local area. Your excellent listening skills, verbal communication skills, and ability to form trusting relationships with service users, carers, and colleagues will be essential in this position.

Responsibilities
  • Assess needs, risks, and aspirations of service users and identify appropriate signposting
  • Provide inspiration and support to individuals experiencing mental distress
  • Collaborate with the team to establish immediate and longer-term support needs of service users
  • Co-produce small group and activity sessions to cater to the needs of service users
  • Respond to the needs of individuals with sensitivity, taking into account their age, culture, race, gender, ethnicity, social class, or disability
  • Support people with crisis mental health needs to manage their own healthcare, in line with their care plan, aiming to prevent further crises
  • Signpost customers to local community resources to address cultural/social barriers affecting their wellbeing
  • Link customers with specialist services for continuous support, such as counseling, money management, substance misuse
