Job Overview
In our mission to provide top-notch educational support, Prospero Teaching is collaborating with a specialist Sensory Support Unit in Levenshulme. We are seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work with primary students who are deaf.

The selected candidate will be part of the sensory support team, working with deaf children supported by the unit. A basic level of sign language is required for this role. Ideally, you have experience of working with children in the Early Years and children with additional needs.

You will be required to work with two pupils who are deaf and attend the school nursery each afternoon. You will need an understanding of the early years curriculum and be able to work off plans prepared by the teacher to support the two students on your own each afternoon.

This position will start as soon as possible and will be ongoing for the current academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support primary students who are deaf in a sensory support unit
• Work with deaf children supported by the unit
• Assist students with their learning and daily activities

Requirements:
• Degree educated with a good classification, in English
• High grade in English & Maths at GCSE level
• A level in English Literature or Language
• Basic level of British Sign Language
• Previous experience working with young people (desirable)
• Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential)
• Up-to-date prevent awareness training issued in the last 3 years (essential)

About the Role:
This is a temporary full-time position. The selected candidate will work 8:30am - 4pm, Monday to Friday. The minimum rate of pay is £97 per day.
