Company Overview

Prospero Teaching is working with a specialist Sensory Support Unit in Levenshulme to recruit a Special Needs Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will support primary students who are deaf.

Salary and Benefits

The minimum rate of pay for this role is £97 per day. The position is full-time, 8:30am - 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Job Description

In the sensory support unit, you will work with deaf children supported by the unit. Ideally, you have experience working with children in the Early Years and children with additional needs. You will be required to have a basic level of sign language for this role.

You will need an understanding of the early years curriculum and be able to work off plans prepared by the teacher to support the two students on your own each afternoon. Each afternoon, you will be required to work with two pupils who are deaf and attend the school nursery.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  1. Degree educated with a good classification, in English
  2. High grade in English & Maths at GCSE level
  3. A level in English Literature or Language
  4. British Sign Language (BSL) - basic level
  5. Previous experience working with young people desirable but not essential
  6. Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, however training can be provided)
  7. Up to date prevent awareness training issued in the last 3 years (essential, however, training can be provided)
