About the Role

We are seeking an experienced UK Sales Director to oversee the sales teams and strategies for our commercial publishing divisions, including HQ, Avon, Pavilion Books, and Mills & Boon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Sales Strategy Director and Group Sales Director to set and deliver short-term and long-term UK print and digital sales strategies for the divisions.
  • Lead and develop the Key Accounts Team for HQ, Mills & Boon, Pavillion, and Avon.
  • Delivery of UK divisional sales and profit targets.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with key industry stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the digital team and establish strong working relationships with international, Irish, and sales development teams.
  • Provide market intelligence to inform acquisition decisions.
  • Ensure immediate market feedback to maximize title performance.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Publicity, Editorial, and other departments.
  • Attend internal meetings and chair meetings as required.
  • Manage stock and print programs, work closely with divisions on jacket and schedule meetings.
  • Take responsibility for managing the retail spend budget for each year.

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of the UK adult book market.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking with a proven track record of implementing change.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • Established relationships at a senior level in retail.
  • Solid experience in managing, motivating, and directing others.
  • Proven experience in developing business strategies and successful implementation.
  • Excellent influencing skills with the ability to build relationships in challenging situations.
  • An individual with confidence in their abilities, inspiring trust and confidence in others.
  • Genuinely enthusiastic about the list and able to generate enthusiasm in others.
