Purpose of the Role:

As a Strategic Business Development Director, you will play a crucial role in leading our Consulting Division, overseeing operations and managing a team to achieve business goals and objectives. You will implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and confidently engage with key stakeholders to promote our services.

Your Responsibilities:

Existing Clients and Business Growth

  • Nurture existing client relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.
  • Analyze client satisfaction surveys, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to increase NPS scores.
  • Grow our portfolio of projects and recruitment referrals within existing businesses.
  • Support new business development and onboard new clients, ensuring they understand and engage with our services.

Business Development and Success

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and strategic direction of the business, ensuring its continued success.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, innovations, and technology to drive business growth.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with other businesses within our group and recommend or refer clients to our Recruitment business.
  • Explore new markets and service offerings, including net-zero initiatives and expansion into new locations or services.
  • Develop applications and production frameworks to complement our services or deliver as separate offerings.

Project Framework and Delivery

  • Establish a project framework for the Consulting Business, including commercial structures and consultant level pricing.
  • Develop frameworks for project management, PMO, mobilization, communications, and delivery.
  • Implement stakeholder management standards to ensure high-quality client communication and consistent approach to reporting and RAID logs.
  • Create application production and delivery frameworks.
  • Develop frameworks for delivering moves and changes and other non-mobilization projects.

Staff Development and Progression

  • Grow the business to require permanent staff and explore organizational structures, remuneration packages, and benefits.
  • Develop job descriptions, development plans, and clear career progression routes in consultation with the Managing Director.
  • Manage all consultants, including performance reviews, and encourage self-development for yourself and others.
  • Serve as the main contact for consultants, contractors, and escalation points.

Pipeline of Projects, Bids, and Tenders

  • Work with Group Finance and Sales & Marketing teams to craft and mature bid responses and tenders.
  • Review and develop strategies for the pipeline, handling incoming work, and reviewing CRM data to understand bid decisions.
  • Prepare for private sector pipeline mobilizations, ensuring established relationships with clients and identifying new clients to build relationships with.
  • Explore moves and changes and projects outside of mobilization for business continuity.

Commercial and Finance

  • Collaborate with the Finance & Commercial Manager to clarify engagement methods, contractual standards, and commercial practices.
  • Ensure the business is profitable, maintaining a consistent and high-calibre pipeline, converting opportunities into cash (e.g., monthly invoicing).
  • Liaise with the Finance & Commercial Manager on budgets, forecasting, and reducing unnecessary spend.
  • Maintain a minimum 50% billable/client-recoverable time.

Profitability and Performance

  • Analyze profitability, identifying areas for efficiency, and review team and project performance.
  • Manage options for performance reporting, utilizing CRM and/or portfolio matrix/balanced scorecards.
  • Analyze business activity to identify potential changes and improvements across the business.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in Facilities Management (FM) and change/transformation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and numerical skills.
  • Degree-level education.
  • Consulting and project management experience within FM and the Built Environment.
  • Able to convert opportunities to winning business.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-profile projects and mobilizations/transitions.
  • Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • High level of integrity, EQ, and ability to work with C-Suite Execs.
