Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced nurse to fill the role of Nurse Education Specialist. This position would be ideal for an individual who is passionate about the clinical education of others.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of nursing learners and preceptees across all Trust practice areas. This includes working with Academic Education Institutions (AEIs), National Health Service England (NHSE), and other providers to recruit nursing learners.
The Nurse Education Specialist will also be responsible for delivering the nursing preceptorship programmes and evaluating their outcomes. Additionally, they will work in partnership with Oxleas directorates and AEIs to allocate clinical placements for nursing learners and support learners in practice.
Main Duties of the Job
- To work with AEIs, NHSE, and other providers to recruit nursing learners.
- To work in partnership with Oxleas directorates and AEIs to allocate clinical placements for nursing learners and support learners in practice.
- To deliver the nursing preceptorship programmes and evaluate their outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
- Monitor clinical placement areas and support the achievement of learning outcomes for nursing learners.
- Support and maintain a database of current nursing learners and clinical placement areas.
- Support and maintain the database of practice supervisors/assessors.
- Work in collaboration with the AEIs to undertake clinical audit of placement areas.
- Develop and sustain effective working relationships with all partners in ensuring effective learning outcomes.
- Manage placement enquiries and issues from clinical staff, students, and AEIs.
- Ensure directorate engagement in the education agenda.
- Support the delivery of the preceptorship programme for all newly registered nurses and nursing associates.
- Keep up to date with professional developments, national initiatives, and government changes.
- Represent the organisation at national events.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Teaching/training qualification or Practice Assessor/Mentorship/ENB 998.
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Experience
Essential
- Band 6 or above experience.
- Experience in supporting learners.
