Job Description

Job Title: Team Manager

Job Purpose: To lead and manage a team of staff in a secure children's home, providing a safe and supportive environment for young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality care and services are delivered.
  • Develop and implement care plans, ensuring the needs of young people are met and their well-being is promoted.
  • Collaborate with other teams and agencies to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to care and support.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records, reports, and data, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, identifying areas for development and implementing changes to improve services.
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care and services.
  • Manage budgets and resources, ensuring effective use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including young people, families, and external agencies.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring they are aligned with regulatory requirements and best practice.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a secure children's home or similar setting.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience of leading a team and managing budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with young people, families, and external agencies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and the Youth Justice Standards 2019.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Recognized professional qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience of working with young people with complex needs, including those with mental health issues or learning disabilities.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and improvement initiatives, including the use of data and performance metrics to drive improvement.
