Multilingual Communication Role

We are looking for a skilled multilingual professional to work as a casual interpreter/translator for Coventry City Council's Coventry Interpretation and Translation Unit (CITU). As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality interpretation and translation services to support professionals working with people who have English as a second language or sensory impairments.

About CITU

CITU delivers interpretation and translation services, ensuring seamless communication between individuals and service providers. Our interpreters adhere to strict policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide face-to-face interpretation services for individuals with limited English proficiency or sensory impairments, facilitating effective communication in various settings.
  • Interpret in various settings, including case conferences, child protection meetings, and training sessions, promoting cultural understanding and awareness.
  • Facilitate telephone and sign language interpreting through external agencies, leveraging technology to enhance communication channels.
Requirements:
  • Fluency in one of the following languages: Amharic, Dinka, Garre, Italian, Nuer, Oromo, Pashto, Polish, Portuguese, Slovak/Czech, Tigrinya, or Vietnamese.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, enabling clear and concise communication with clients and colleagues.
  • Availability for face-to-face appointments during office hours, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to client needs.
Compensation:

£47 per hour plus travel time, providing a competitive rate for your expertise.
