About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team at Polaris Community. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for young people in our care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the team to promote and support the young people in our care, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Provide emotional and social support to the young people, helping them develop meaningful relationships and encouraging their involvement in local communities.
  • Encourage and enable each young person's self-esteem to be raised in a positive manner, ensuring they are respected and valued.
  • Support and enable each young person to make positive life choices and achieve levels of independence that help them develop to their full potential.
  • Record and document events, observations, and progress, including young people's daily and monthly updates, child protection records, and health and safety checks.
  • Assess the children and young people's needs, working under the direction of your manager and other appropriate personnel to formulate, implement, and review care plans.
  • Collaborate with your manager, team, health advisor, social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for the young people.
  • Support the young people with their daily living needs, including domestic duties, meal planning, and preparation, in line with their individual care plan.
Required Attributes
  • Ability to engage with young people in a positive and proactive approach.
  • Self-motivation with a positive nature.
  • Sensitivity and reflectiveness.
  • Ability to listen and empathise.
  • Capacity to work individually and within a team.
  • Experience working in the care sector or residential care.
  • Relevant qualification or commitment to undertake a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
  • Willingness to work some Bank Holidays.
