We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Polaris Community. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to young people in our residential setting.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for young people, promoting their positive development and well-being.
  • Offer emotional and social support to help young people develop meaningful relationships and become involved in their local communities.
  • Encourage and enable each young person to raise their self-esteem, be respected, and valued.
  • Support young people in making positive life choices and achieving levels of independence that help them reach their full potential.
  • Record and document events, observations, and progress, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Assess the needs of young people, formulate, implement, and review care plans under the direction of your manager and other professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with your team, health advisor, social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support to young people.
  • Carry out domestic duties, plan, shop, and prepare meals, ensuring a varied and well-balanced diet for young people.

Required Attributes

  • Ability to engage with young people in a positive and proactive approach.
  • Self-motivation with a positive nature.
  • Sensitivity and reflectiveness.
  • Ability to listen and empathise.
  • Capacity to work individually and within a team.
  • Experience working in the care sector or residential care.
  • Relevant qualification or commitment to undertake a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
  • Willingness to work some Bank Holidays.
