Competence Manager

Pertemps Network Group is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Regulatory Competence Lead in their Birmingham office. This exciting opportunity comes with a competitive salary of £40,000 and the chance to make a significant impact on the company's compliance and training practices.

Job Overview:

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the company meets all regulatory requirements and maintains a strong internal framework. This includes managing the end-to-end process of training and competency, ensuring all employees—from new starters to experienced staff—are supported to achieve and maintain high standards in their roles.

You will work closely with senior management and provide strategic insights into compliance and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the firm's T&C function and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Develop and implement a tailored T&C scheme, including robust processes for assessing and maintaining competency.
  • Conduct regular audits, file reviews, and performance monitoring to identify training needs and mitigate risks.
  • Provide expert advice on regulatory matters, including financial promotions, Consumer Duty initiatives, and compliance policies.
  • Ensure comprehensive records are maintained to evidence adherence to FCA requirements.
  • Line-manage the Technical Team Leader, supporting their development and the implementation of T&C initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and training and competence frameworks.
  • A proven track record in a compliance or T&C management role, ideally within financial services.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with experience managing teams and driving performance.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to create practical, compliant solutions to regulatory challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications or extensive experience in compliance and regulatory training.
