Main Responsibilities

  • Process prescriptions and repeat prescriptions in accordance with good practice principles.
  • Ensure medicines and appliances are checked against prescriptions and verify with authorizing doctors when necessary.
  • Collect prescription charges and ensure patient declarations are completed.
  • Process Hospital Letters and Dossett Boxes.
  • Manage stock ordering and control.
  • Prepare monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau.
  • Answer dispensary phone enquiries and monitor patient exemption status.
  • Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication.
