About the Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership to one of our community mental health teams, delivering diagnostic assessments and treatment to individuals with severe, complex, and high-risk psychiatric conditions.

The team serves a population of around 200,000 across Watford and Three Rivers borough locality, as well as Hertsmere borough locality with a population of approximately 100,000. Our services are based at Colne House in Watford and Civic Offices in Borehamwood.

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is committed to being the leading provider of mental health and specialist learning disabilities within the UK. We cover a mix of rural and urban areas, including the City of St Albans, large towns, and smaller towns.

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with expertise in psychotherapy and a strong working familiarity with other forms of therapy. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, appraise, and give professional supervision to junior medical staff.
  • Ensure junior medical staff operate within the parameters of the New Deal and Working Time Directive.
  • Participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and whole mental health service.
  • Maintain professional registration with the GMC and abide by professional codes of conduct.
  • Liaise with primary care colleagues and provide advice to Primary Care Nurses and Additional Role Reimbursement Workers.

Person Specification

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full Registration with the GMC and inclusion on Specialist Register (or CCT expected within 3-6 months).
  • External qualification in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
  • Holds a full valid driving license.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Salary: £110,000 - £140,000 per annum
