Job Summary:

This role involves providing clinical leadership to a Community Mental Health Team based in Watford, covering two borough localities in South West Hertfordshire. As a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for diagnostic assessments and treatment of service users with severe, complex, and high-risk psychiatric conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To manage, appraise, and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed by consultant colleagues and the medical director.
  2. To participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and the whole mental health service.
  3. To attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust and the team, including lectures and seminars.
  4. To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval, and abide by professional codes of conduct.
  5. To comply with the Trust's agreed policies, procedures, standing orders, and financial instructions.
  6. To liaise with primary care colleagues, including providing advice to Primary Care Nurses and Additional Role Reimbursement Workers dedicated to the Primary Care Network.

Requirements:

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • CCT in Psychiatry; OR Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in psychiatry by CESR route.
  • Experience of working with service users who have complex needs within General Adult psychiatry.
