Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Technician to join our multidisciplinary maintenance team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be based at Scarborough Hospital and will be responsible for providing maintenance and repair services to our clinical and non-clinical facilities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide maintenance and repair services to mechanical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment.
  • Respond to emergency calls and perform repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate in on-call/out-of-hours rota and be available to respond to emergencies at any time.
Requirements
  • Recognized and registered ETIB or CITB (or equivalent) craft/modern apprenticeship or Time served apprenticeship (level 3)
  • Current driving license with the ability to drive category B.
  • Good general knowledge of building services and engineering maintenance.
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and have demonstrable experience of working within a maintenance environment.
  • Reliable, resilient, enthusiastic, motivated, and able to work under pressure with minimum supervision.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following essential criteria:

  • Recognized and registered ETIB or CITB (or equivalent) craft/modern apprenticeship or Time served apprenticeship (level 3)
  • Current driving license with the ability to drive category B.

We also welcome applications from candidates who meet the following desirable criteria:

  • HNC Mechanical Engineering
  • Further specialist qualifications (minimum of three of the below on appointment, rest to be achieved within 2 years): Ventilation (CP), Pressure Systems (SP), Medical gas (CP), Decontamination (CP), Air conditioning and refrigeration
