About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to join our team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be based at Scarborough Hospital and will be responsible for providing maintenance and repair services to our mechanical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance teams to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff members.
Requirements
  • Recognized and registered ETIB or CITB (or equivalent) craft/modern apprenticeship or Time served apprenticeship (level 3).
  • Current driving license with the ability to drive category B.
  • Experience of Mechanical infrastructure.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety procedures and use of PPE.
Desirable Criteria
  • HNC Mechanical Engineering.
  • Further specialist qualifications (minimum of three of the below on appointment, rest to be achieved within 2 years):
    • Ventilation (CP)
    • Pressure Systems (SP)
    • Medical gas (CP)
    • Decontamination (CP)
    • Air conditioning and refrigeration.
  • Formal training/experience steam generating boilers.
  • Experience of pneumatic controls systems.
