Housing Benefits Officer Job Description

Adecco UK Limited is seeking a skilled Housing Benefits Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of benefits legislation and experience in assessing housing benefit and council tax reduction claims.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer applications for Housing/Council Tax Support entitlement and payment in accordance with Statutory Regulations and the Council's policies and procedures.
  • Process applications using Ealing's Information Technology Systems and maintain comprehensive knowledge of benefits legislation.
  • Obtain additional information as necessary to determine claims, and keep accurate records of all claims made.
  • Calculate entitlement to benefits and effect payment as required.
  • Acquire and retain knowledge of Welfare Benefits and services provided by Government Agencies and the voluntary sector.
Requirements:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of benefits legislation and experience in assessing housing benefit and council tax reduction claims.
  • Ability to keep abreast of changes in legislation and maintain accurate records.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to make decisions in an impartial manner.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel, and ability to learn computer systems required for carrying out duties.
