Job Title: Clinical Research Fellow

Department: Trauma and Orthopaedic Department, Leeds Teaching Hospitals

Job Summary:

The Clinical Research Fellow will play a key role in the coordination of research activities within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of grant applications, facilitate the recruitment of patients in clinical trials, and support medical staff in obtaining patient records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and facilitate the recruitment of patients in clinical trials
  • Support medical staff in obtaining patient records and maintaining databases
  • Organize the research meeting of the department and produce frequent reports reflecting the overall work of the unit
  • Assist in outpatient clinics and theatre sessions, and attend courses organized by the department
  • Present at national and international meetings the overall research portfolio of the unit
  • Deliver end-user training in the use of departmental database systems to ensure the level of data quality is maintained
  • Work closely with Professor Giannoudis in the clinical setting and be responsible for organizing the monthly research meeting of the department
  • Document existing and newly initiated clinical projects and clinical trials, and produce annual reports reflecting the clinical activities of the department
  • Assist with the submission of clinical applications for ethics approval

About the Department:

The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department of Surgery is a large unit contributing to both service delivery and academic research. The department consists of 34 Consultants, 17 StR ST3, 9 National Spine Fellows, 1 National Hand Fellow, 7 Clinical Research Fellows, 6 Trust Grade ST1 to ST3, 9 ST12 posts, 4 FY2 Doctors, and 6 FY1 Doctors.

The department is supported by Trauma Coordinators, Major Trauma Case Managers, clinical nurse specialists, and a large rehabilitation team led by rehabilitation consultants.
