Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking the investigation, diagnosis, and management of patients referred to the Orthoptic Department.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Orthoptics, with experience in acute and community settings. They will be competent in the use of visual field analysers and have a teaching qualification.

The post holder will be based at the Eye Hospital, but will also travel to community sites and assessment centres in and around Bristol and to Weston General Hospital.

Main Responsibilities
  • Investigate, diagnose, and manage patients referred to the Orthoptic Department
  • Work in specialist paediatric and paediatric neuro-ophthalmology clinics, motility and adnexal clinics, adult neuro-ophthalmology, stroke, and brain injury assessments
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care
Requirements
  • BSc Orthoptics or equivalent
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Teaching qualification
  • Relevant Orthoptic experience in acute and community settings
