Orthoptist Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our team at Bristol Eye Hospital. As an Orthoptist Specialist, you will be responsible for investigating, diagnosing, and managing patients referred to the Orthoptic Department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Undertake investigations, diagnoses, and management of patients
  • Supervise and teach Orthoptic students
  • Clinical audit and research

Requirements:

  • BSc Orthoptics or equivalent
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Teaching qualification

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Relevant Orthoptic experience in acute and community settings
  • Competence in visual field analysers and interpretation
  • Excellent observational, analytical, and reflective skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team of Orthoptists and gain invaluable experience in all aspects of Orthoptics. We offer a preceptorship and mentoring programme, protected CPD time, and actively encourage audit and research to improve our service.

Working Arrangements:

The post holder will be based at the Eye Hospital but will also travel to community sites and assessment centres in and around Bristol and to Weston General Hospital.
