Job OverviewThe successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing payroll operations, supporting the Payroll Manager, and managing a team of two Payroll Officers. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of payroll legislation and compliance standards.
- Key Responsibilities: Support the Payroll Manager, manage a team of two Payroll Officers, prepare and handle director emoluments, and conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
- Troubleshooting and Expertise: Utilise your extensive payroll knowledge to troubleshoot issues and resolve complex payroll queries.
- Financial Acumen: Possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, including the impact of payroll on P&L and the Balance Sheet.
- Compliance and Legislation: Stay up-to-date with payroll legislation, such as minimum wage and salary sacrifice pensions.
- Leadership and Management Experience: A background in managing a team at a senior level, ideally with experience in guiding and developing payroll staff.
- Commercial and Financial Insight: Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen are key.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Confident in presenting complex payroll information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders across the business.
- Analytical Mindset and Detail Orientation: A sharp eye for detail and ability to review and analyse payroll data are critical.
- Advanced Excel Skills: Expertise in MS Excel, including look-ups, pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas, is required for efficient data handling and analysis.
- Problem-Solving and Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to see the bigger picture and anticipate impacts across the payroll and finance functions.
