Job Description

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your leadership skills and contribute to the success of the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing payroll operations, supporting the Payroll Manager, and managing a team of two Payroll Officers.

  • Key Responsibilities: Support the Payroll Manager, manage a team of two Payroll Officers, prepare and handle director emoluments, and conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Troubleshooting and Expertise: Utilise your extensive payroll knowledge to troubleshoot issues and resolve complex payroll queries.
  • Financial Acumen: Possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, including the impact of payroll on P&L and the Balance Sheet.
  • Compliance and Legislation: Stay up-to-date with payroll legislation, such as minimum wage and salary sacrifice pensions.
Requirements
  • Leadership and Management Experience: A background in managing a team at a senior level, ideally with experience in guiding and developing payroll staff.
  • Commercial and Financial Insight: Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen are key.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Confident in presenting complex payroll information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders across the business.
  • Analytical Mindset and Detail Orientation: A sharp eye for detail and ability to review and analyse payroll data are critical.
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Expertise in MS Excel, including look-ups, pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas, is required for efficient data handling and analysis.
  • Problem-Solving and Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to see the bigger picture and anticipate impacts across the payroll and finance functions.
