Job Summary

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHSFT is seeking a skilled Technical Instructor to join our Neurological Outpatient Service team at Ripley Hospital. As a Technical Instructor, you will provide highly skilled support to Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, aiding the rehabilitation of patients with neurological conditions.

Main Duties

  • Provide initial assessments for designated patient groups, as agreed with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Work single-handedly and unsupervised when appropriate, either in the outpatient setting or occasionally in patients' homes without direct supervision or presence of a qualified therapist.
  • Plan and provide ongoing treatment, education, and instruction to patients in individual and group settings, including some evaluation and progression of treatment programmes.
  • Provide administration support, including telephone cover and clerical duties as needed.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • English Language pass at GCSE Level (or equivalent)
  • Maths pass at GCSE Level (or equivalent)
  • NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant healthcare subject (or working towards)

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience of working in a Health, Community or Social Care setting
  • Relevant experience of working within Adult/Older people's rehabilitation
  • Experience of working in a Band 3 Therapy Assistant/Technical Instructor role
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of neurological conditions
