About the Job:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing both fortnightly and monthly payrolls, ensuring accurate and timely processing, while driving improvements in payroll systems and processes. This includes overseeing the integration of payroll data between Sage 50 Payroll and Sage 200, handling starter and leaver processes, and conducting regular reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

  • Process fortnightly and monthly payrolls for two companies, ensuring accuracy and timely payments in line with internal deadlines.
  • Manage the time and attendance systems, ensuring all payroll data is processed correctly.
  • Ensure compliance with company and statutory regulations when handling starter and leaver processes.
  • Integrate payroll data between Sage 50 Payroll and Sage 200, including nominal link and department coding.
  • Oversee CIS payments and monthly payroll accruals, posting necessary journal entries in Sage 200.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations, including HMRC payments, P&L reports, pension uploads, and van records.
  • Lead the year-end process, ensuring P11D submissions meet HMRC deadlines.
  • Act as the payroll expert, ensuring compliance with current payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Address payroll queries and issues, maintaining strict confidentiality of employee data.
  • Continuously improve payroll processes, driving efficiency and ensuring a high standard of service.

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience working with payroll systems, preferably Sage Payroll, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of technical payroll issues and experience working with auditors.
  • Accounting knowledge, particularly in reconciliation and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to manage a busy workload, prioritizing tasks in a dynamic environment.

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
