Actemium Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description
Actemium is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create 2D and 3D designs for process equipment using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Develop fabrication drawings and collaborate with project managers and workshop managers to create bespoke designs.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet customer needs and specifications.
- Develop and maintain design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
- Provide technical support to customers and other team members as needed.
- Collaborate with suppliers to obtain prices and delivery times.
- Create handover and documentation packs, including drawings, material certification, and weld procedures.
- Assume responsibility for project designs in terms of deadline compliance and technical performance.
- Assist in bid and contract reviews of projects.
- Responsible for the technical aspects of projects.
- Maintain and implement design standards.
Requirements:
- HNC or above in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Minimum of 2 years in an engineering-related field.
- Experience with design and fabrication of steel and stainless-steel process equipment.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Will to travel to job sites or other fabrication shops.
- Able to work competently in a team and as an individual contributor.
- Customer-focused and able to roll up sleeves and get involved in challenging projects.
- Able to take ownership of projects and work to time limits.
- Logical and analytical thinking skills.

Desirable Knowledge and Experience:
- Working knowledge of the Food Industry.
- Working knowledge of the Automotive Industry.
- Structural steel design working to EN1090 accreditation.
- Pipework design, including P&IDs and Weld Maps.
- Process flow diagrams.
- Site layouts and equipment layouts.
- Working knowledge of steam systems and energy.
- Stress calculations.
- Fluid systems.
- Pumps and pipe work.
- Pneumatics.
- Sizing of motor/gearboxes for applications.
- Sheet metal development.
- Tolerance of machined parts.
