**Job Title:** Primary SEMH Support Worker

**Location:** Bournemouth, UK

**Estimated Salary:** £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated teaching assistant to join our SEMH provisions. The successful candidate will work closely with secondary-aged pupils who have behavioral and SEMH needs, providing essential support to help them thrive both academically and personally.

About the Role:

  • 1:1 and Small Group Support: Work directly with pupils to provide tailored support that meets their individual needs, both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Behaviour Support and Mentoring: Assist pupils in developing positive behaviors, social skills, and self-esteem through mentoring and consistent support.
  • Academic Support: Help pupils engage with the curriculum, offering support within lessons across various subjects to boost their academic achievement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to implement individual education plans and behavior management strategies.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on pupil progress, highlighting any areas of concern to the relevant staff members.
  • Building Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain trusting, supportive relationships with pupils to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and welfare of pupils at all times, following school safeguarding policies and procedures.

Person Specification:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with young people is essential.
  • Qualifications: Minimum GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent. Additional qualifications related to child development, mental health, or special education needs would be an advantage.
  • Skills and Qualities:
    • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with young people.
    • Ability to Work as Part of a Team: Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to implement individual education plans and behavior management strategies.
