Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Summary
The Commonwealth of Virginia invites applications for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Virginia Department of Corrections. As a LPN, you will provide evidence-based nursing care utilizing the nursing process, principles, practices, and techniques of general nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients, including screening for sick call, administering medications, and providing first aid and basic life support.
- Maintain open lines of communication with security and treatment staff to ensure effective treatment plans.
- Record all pertinent information into the medical record.
- Interact with other departments as needed to ensure seamless operations.
- Promote continued competence through education and certification in correctional nursing.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license or a multi-state compact license.
- Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care.
- Able to maintain appropriate documentation, provide first aid, and carry out providers' orders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a corrections or law enforcement environment.
- Experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical care.
