SENCO Leadership Role

Job Summary:
The SENCO will be responsible for leading the development and oversight of SEN provision in line with academy policies and national legislation. The role involves ensuring that all legal and statutory requirements are met for students with SEN.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership for the development and oversight of SEN provision in line with academy policies and national legislation.
2. Ensure effective communication systems are in place, including feedback about students’ progress to inform future planning.
3. Maintain and update the SEN register, ensuring that all staff are informed and prepared to make the necessary adaptations for students.
4. Liaise with external agencies for comprehensive intervention and support to meet students’ needs.
5. Keep up-to-date with national and local SEN initiatives and adjust practice accordingly.
Assessments and Access Arrangements:
1. Oversee the coordination of student assessments and manage access arrangements for exams.
2. Conduct assessments on entry and as required, and implement access arrangements as necessary.
This is a challenging yet rewarding role for a SENCO who is passionate about supporting students with special needs.
