Specialist Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our Additional Resource Provision (ARP) unit, specifically designed for students with special educational needs. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping students grow and develop, working closely with teachers and the SENCo to create personalized learning plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCo to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
  • Provide essential support in the classroom to facilitate student engagement, progress, and confidence.
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery, adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Offer one-on-one or small group support to students, utilizing various teaching approaches.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth and well-being.
  • Support students with emotional or behavioral challenges, utilizing effective strategies to promote positive interactions.
  • Collaborate with external teams, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
Requirements:
  • Teaching Assistant qualification at Level 2 or 3, with experience supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN conditions and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse student needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.
  • Knowledge of Makaton or PECS communication methods is an asset.
