Supporting Learning and Development as a Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Step Teachers. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of students in secondary schools around Suffolk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop students' language, literacy, numeracy, and related skills through a wide range of opportunities.
- Support specific students as directed by subject teachers or SENDCOs, utilizing your specialism or expertise.
- Work with students, either one-to-one or in small groups, who have identified Special Educational Needs and an EHCP.
- Provide feedback in written and verbal form, maintaining basic records as appropriate.
- Clarify and explain instructions to students.
- Motivate and encourage students to access learning and social tasks.
- Help students concentrate on and finish work set, promoting independence.
- Develop methods to promote and reinforce students' self-esteem.
- Support students with aspects of behavior, making appropriate use of the learning space and environment.
- Provide care for students as needed, including looking after sick or upset students.
Requirements:
- Good knowledge of Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Minimum of 6 months experience as a Teaching Assistant in a UK-based educational setting.
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification is desirable.
- Verifiable references from previous employers or placements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for education and supporting the learning journey of students.
- SEN experience is favorable.
