We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our Chaplaincy Team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre as a Religious Visitor (Hindu). The successful candidate will work across both our sites on a Part time basis, providing pastoral care and ensuring spiritual welfare of residents and staff.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £26,000 - £32,000 per annum, pro rata to FTE. Additionally, they will be entitled to holiday allowance, Bank holiday allowance, up to 6% contributory pension scheme, Serco Benefits package including discounts and offers, and an autonomous and supportive culture.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering religious services of their own faith, ideally in a custodial environment. They should be innovative and forward thinking, with a proven high-level of professionalism and competence in congregational service delivery.

Key duties include:

  • Providing faith advice within the establishment and supporting the establishment in ensuring faith groups observe their religious holy days and festivals.
  • Acquiring and distributing appropriate religious literature, supplies, and materials.
  • Facilitating faith-specific services.
  • Attending and providing meaningful input into chaplaincy-specific meetings and forums.

The postholder will also contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and ensure that chaplaincy facilities and equipment are maintained to the required standard.

Requirements

The successful candidate must meet the specified minimum faith eligibility requirement of their faith tradition. They should have a working knowledge of other faiths represented within the centre to enable them to work in a multi-faith environment.

Essential requirements include:

  • Appropriate experience in the delivery of religious services of own faith, ideally in a custodial environment.
  • Innovative and forward thinking.
  • Proven high-level of professionalism and competence in religious service delivery.
  • Proven experience and skills in pastoral and spiritual leadership.
