About the Role

Devon Training Hub is seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Practitioner to join our team as a Health Inequalities Fellow. This is an exciting opportunity to work with us to reduce health inequalities in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply a systems thinking approach to identify and work with key stakeholders in the locality, including Primary Care Networks, Integrated Care Boards, and the voluntary sector.
  • Liaise with the Clinical Leadership Team at Devon Training Hub to ensure effective exchange of plans, ideas, and information.
  • Attend local peer learning groups and action learning sets, and participate in the national education program relating to health inequalities.
  • Work with multi-professional members of the Primary Care Network team to support their understanding of health inequalities and their role in reducing them.
  • Liaise with previous and existing health inequality fellows to share learning and develop existing initiatives where appropriate.
  • Identify issues at Primary Care Network level pertaining to health inequalities and develop a quality improvement project to address this.
  • Write up and present your project in line with agreed guidelines from the Devon Training Hub.
  • Agree an educational professional development plan with the Devon Training Hub Clinical Leadership Team, identifying your own learning needs and areas you might like to upskill.
  • Participate in and support the delivery of health inequality-related events in Devon.
  • Disseminate learning about how to reduce health inequalities across the Primary Care Network and regionally where appropriate.
Requirements
  • General practitioner with MRCGP qualification.
  • Understanding of Primary Care in England and its interface with secondary care.
  • Understanding of current primary health care general issues.
  • Proven experience of regularly working as a clinician in general practice, after completion of vocational training, with current full registration with the GMC.
  • Current clinical commitment of not less than 3 sessions a week.
  • Participated in formal training programs in general practice.
