About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated pharmacist to join our Antimicrobial Stewardship team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a specialist pharmacist, you will play a key role in delivering compassionate excellence and improving patient outcomes through the safe and effective use of antimicrobials.

Main Responsibilities

As a member of our Antimicrobial Stewardship team, you will work closely with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to promote the appropriate use of antimicrobials, reduce antimicrobial resistance, and improve patient safety. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting clinicians in the safe prescribing of antimicrobials through ward rounds, responding to ad-hoc queries, and proactive surveillance.
  • Developing expert knowledge in antimicrobials and infection management, including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, spectrum of activity, safety profile, and monitoring requirements.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based antimicrobial guidelines and undertake clinical audit pertaining to antimicrobial use.
  • Delivering formal and informal training to a range of healthcare professionals in relation to antimicrobial prescribing, monitoring, and patient education.
