Job Title: Adult Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at the Defence Medical Services. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist mental health services to serving armed forces personnel and entitled personnel.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality mental health services to patients referred to the Defence Medical Services for assessment and treatment of mental health problems.
  • Manage a clinical caseload, delivering optimum personal and professional standards to assist the care process in accordance with Defence Medical Services protocols and clinical governance.
  • Act as a clinical and educational resource to Medical Officers/General Practitioners (MO/GP) and offer advice to Unit Commanders on mental health matters, the administrative management of personnel with mental health difficulties, and mental health promotion.
  • Deliver up-to-date, evidence-based interventions for mental health problems based on guidance from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the National Treatment Agency (NTA), which can include individual, group, and tele-therapy.
Requirements:
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse or graduate-level professional with background in mental health; substantial post-qualification training and experience in at least 2 evidence-based psychological therapies and accredited or eligible for accreditation from a recognised body (BABCP, BACP, UKCP) OR: Registered Mental Health Nurse with demonstrable experience working at Band 5 or above.
  • Experience of working in a Community Mental Health setting.
  • Registered with one of the following regulatory bodies: NMC, HCPC.
