Job Overview

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is seeking a skilled midwife to join our team at the Maidstone Birth Centre. As a midwife with a special interest in midwife-led care and the promotion of normality, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to women, pregnant people, and families.

Main Responsibilities

As a midwife in this role, you will be responsible for providing low-risk intrapartum care in community settings, working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of care. You will also be involved in promoting normality in all clinical areas and contributing to the development of our services to support women's choice in place of birth.

Requirements

  • Registered Midwife (RM) and eligible to practice
  • Evidence of further study and development of professional and academic skills
  • Sound knowledge of recent Government/Professional documents with awareness of implications to service provision
  • Able to demonstrate motivation to maintain professional development
  • Ability to work within acute and primary health care settings

Qualification

  • Essential criteria: RM and eligible to practice, evidence of further study and development of professional and academic skills
  • Desirable criteria: To have obtained or be studying at diploma level

Experience/Knowledge

  • Essential criteria: Sound knowledge of recent Government/Professional documents with awareness of implications to service provision, able to demonstrate motivation to maintain professional development, ability to work within acute and primary health care settings
  • Desirable criteria: Previous community and hospital experience, ability to use flexible innovative approaches to practice tailored to meet the clients' individual needs, knowledge of change management theories and their impact

Skills

  • Essential criteria: Able to recognise own limitations in order to seek advice appropriately, ability to act effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring collaboration across professional boundaries, ability to exercise professional accountability and autonomy, act as mentor to both qualified midwives and students encouraging evidence-based practice, computer literate
  • Desirable criteria: Be able to prioritise one's workload, a working knowledge of quality assurance
