About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Maintenance Compliance Specialist to join our elite maintenance team at Breedon Group plc.

This role will involve taking ownership of written schemes and maintenance registers, updating scheme drawings, and ensuring all records are up-to-date for spot inspections and audits by regulatory authorities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a small team of maintenance operators and contract partners, responsible for completing routine maintenance and inspection works within the scope of the areas listed below, including corrective repairs and improvement work.

The individual must be capable of supervision, prioritizing workload, coordinating actions within the relevant legislative framework, and minimizing disruption to day-to-day site activities and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lifting Equipment: Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all site lifting beams, hoists, lifting accessories, shackles, chains, slings, and girder clamps and trolleys.
  • Compressed Air Systems: Maintain and inspect compressor equipment, air receivers, PRV's, and pipeline surveys to ensure safe operation and leak detection.
  • LEV and Plant Filtration Systems: Inspect and maintain local exhaust ventilation and plant filtration systems to ensure safe operation.
  • Plant Lubrication Strategy: Ensure the execution of our plant lubrication strategy, including stock management and storage compliance.
  • Hydraulic Pressure Systems: Ensure each system is kept leak-free and in safe operation, including kiln thrusters.
  • Water Systems: Ensure Water Storage Tanks and cooling systems comply with Legionella regulations.
  • Oil and Gas Storage Systems: Ensure safe storage and transport of oil and gas, compliant with COMAH and COSHH regulations.
  • FLT's: Ensure FLT's lifting frames, forks, masts, load computers, and warning lights are maintained in good working order, inspected regularly, and recorded on a register.
  • Machine Guarding: Ensure all guarding on fixed plant machinery and rotating equipment is in good working order, and all interlocks work as per PUWER and Machinery Regulations.
Requirements
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work closely and effectively with a group of people at all levels.
  • Engineering Supervision Skills: Proven solution-oriented critical thinking, with the ability to prioritize workload and coordinate actions within the relevant legislative framework.
  • Business Management Systems: Sound understanding of business management systems, including relevant Standards such as ISO 6001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • IT Skills: Good knowledge of core IT systems, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Project, and Visio.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized and driven, with the ability to prioritize and manage a varied workload.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: Knowledge of Provision and Use of Work Equipment regs 1998 (PUWER), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment regulations 1998 (LOLER), Pressure Systems Safety regulations 2000 (PSSR), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002 (COSHH), and LEV P601 British Occupational hygiene Society.
