Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)

As a dedicated and passionate individual, you will provide 1:1 support to children with special educational needs in a primary school in Accrington.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to children with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • Assist with planning and delivering activities that cater to each child's individual learning plan and goals.
  • Support the child's participation in classroom activities while fostering independence.
  • Promote a positive, safe, and nurturing learning environment, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to assess and monitor each child's progress and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Work with external professionals when needed, such as therapists and specialist teachers, to implement recommended strategies.

To succeed in this role, you should be patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about making a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with SEND children, although we are also open to applications from those who are new to the field but have a strong passion and willingness to learn.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum

Requirements:

  • A passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children and support them in a sensitive, encouraging manner.
  • Comfortable working both within the classroom and in quieter, one-to-one settings outside the main learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other support staff.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a proactive approach to solving challenges.
