Job Title: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant
Description:
- We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate teaching assistant to support a child with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and ADHD in a Year 2 class at a Primary School in East Lancashire.
- This role offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to make a real difference in a child's educational journey.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1-to-1 support for a child with EBD and ADHD, helping them access the curriculum, stay engaged, and participate in classroom activities.
- Implement behavioural and emotional support strategies to help manage challenging behaviours, fostering positive coping mechanisms and promoting emotional well-being.
- Support the reintegration of the child into the classroom, working closely with the class teacher to gradually encourage their full participation in lessons and peer interactions.
- Monitor and track the child's progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO to adjust support strategies as needed.
- Assist with break-time and lunchtime supervision, ensuring the child's safety, supporting social interactions, and promoting positive behaviour during unstructured times.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with EBD, ADHD, or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
- A relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (Level 2 or 3).
- Patience, resilience, and a calm, empathetic approach to working with children with additional needs.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
