Housing Support Specialist

Main Purpose of the Role
The Housing Support Specialist will be responsible for delivering a high-quality housing and support service to 16-21 year olds. This involves ensuring the safe and effective provision of accommodation, identifying and addressing the needs of individuals, and promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centered and trauma-informed support to individuals, facilitating the development of safety plans and promoting positive relationships.
- Focus on service users who face additional barriers to accessing support, prioritizing their needs and developing targeted interventions.
- Deliver a best-practice housing and support service, tailored to the needs and preferences of clients.
- Attend regular supervision meetings and team meetings, contributing to the evaluation of service quality and identifying areas for improvement.
- Meet clearly defined outcome targets, ensuring the maintenance of high-quality assessments and service delivery.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure effective service delivery, promoting user consultation, communication, and partnership.
- Develop and access education, training, and employment opportunities, central to the service and aligned with user needs.
- Ensure key performance indicators (e.g. voids, arrears, and quality standards) are met, reflecting best practice in the sector.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case management records, contributing to monitoring information and service evaluation.
- Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality, and information sharing policy and procedures, as well as relevant legislation connected to the role.
- Support colleagues and partner agencies, promoting awareness and institutional advocacy to enhance service delivery.
- Respect and value diversity, recognizing the needs and concerns of a diverse range of service users and ensuring the service is accessible to all.
- Remain up-to-date and compliant with organizational procedures, policies, and professional codes of conduct, upholding standards of best practice.
Participation in Multi-Agency Operational Partnerships
- Ensure the role is central to multi-agency work and responses to homelessness in the area.
- Develop and maintain links with other agencies, representing the service at operational multi-agency meetings and contributing to the evaluation of service quality.
- Work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies to tackle homelessness, influencing and developing responses to improve services.
- Represent the service at local and national events, delivering training and presentations as required.
- Influence and develop responses to improve services, ensuring the experiences of service users and other agencies inform this process.
Other Duties
- Deliver additional provision/group-based work with sourced funding, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Ensure robust engagement and involvement of service users in service improvements, promoting user consultation and participation.
General Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience and/or qualifications in housing support.
- Experience and knowledge of providing support to individuals with multiple and complex needs.
- Knowledge and practical experience of using IT.
- Good communication skills.
- Resilience and robustness with a positive outlook.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Commitment to quality, customer service, best practice, and best value in all aspects of the organization's operation.
