Support Worker for Children's Learning Disabilities Service

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our dynamic team at CareTech Group. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to children with learning disabilities.
About the Role:
- You will assist the Manager and Deputy Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of our Statement of Purpose and uphold our guiding principles and values.
- As a leader on the shift, you will manage the staff team to ensure they meet the needs of the children effectively by making informed decisions.
- You will plan the shift, ensuring adequate cover, delegated duties, and awareness of all appointments.
- You will order, administer, and audit medication in line with individual support plans.
- You will undertake training and learning to communicate with non-verbal children using sign language, Makaton, PECs, Smart Box, etc.
- You will meet the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural, and educational needs of young people.
- You will undertake child-specific training, such as peg feeding, specific health needs, and medication competencies, including rescue medication.
- You will act as a role model by demonstrating pro-social ways of managing behaviours associated with diagnoses like autism.
- You will support children to lead inclusive lifestyles.
Requirements:
- You will have a good understanding of developmental needs and milestones of young people with complex needs and/or learning disabilities.
- You will be able to communicate, engage, and form positive relationships with young people, parents/carers, and other professionals.
- You will have proven skills, knowledge, and/or experience in managing and leading a team in a positive and effective manner.
- You will be able to produce clear and concise written reports and records of good standard and verbally present information and views.
- A driving licence is preferred but not essential.
- You will possess patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children and young people.
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
